Season of Light

I think we have our theme for the Holiday Social! One of my supervisors suggested a "season of light." Sounds pretty. Then we were thinking of doing a middle-eastern theme because most religions have light as a symbol. This way everyone who comes to the social would be represented. This year we want to give our guests something to take away with them. I thought of getting white votive candles and sponge paints in different shaped sponges. Then when the guests arrive they can decorate the candles as the "light" for the evening. However, our concern is that people might not like getting paint on themselves. Yet, sponge paint would involve very little paint on the hands, so we'll see.

Right now I'm sending out our Save the Date e-mails. I learned how to make them using a new direct e-mail program called Constant Contact. Elaine Young talked about it on one of my classes and said later on in the semester we'll learn to use it, but now I'm ahead of the class! It was a very intense/involved program. I'm not sure how I feel about it. I do know as I've said before that I'm really looking forward to this social though!
